Joy in the Desert: Spirituality for Hard Times

Recession, global warming, terrorism – sometimes it seems that the most we can do is survive. Yet, God invites us towards increased love, freedom, and communion. In this workshop, psychologist and spiritual director Nancy Reeves shares wisdom from a number of the world's faith traditions that we can use to help ourselves and our world find healing and growth, within the embrace of the Christian tradition. Linnea Good provides music to comfort, to inspire, to deepen the spiritual journey. This workshop is appropriate for adults and youth and is based on Nancy’s books “Found Through Loss: Healing stories from scripture and everyday sacredness”, “A Path Through Loss,”  “I’d Say Yes God, If I Knew What You Wanted” as well as Linnea’s CDs Momentary Saints and The Greatest of These.

A Match Made In Heaven: How We Can All Learn To Love God More Deeply

Improve your relationship with God, using the original “how to” book — the Bible.

Books, magazines and talk shows are full of advice about improving our love lives. Psychologist and spiritual director Nancy Reeves points out that some of these same principles apply to our relationship with God. The workshop, designed for both adults and youth, will illustrate these principles through story, song, personal reflection, discussion and spiritual practice. Singer songsmith Linnea Good weaves meditative and soul-stirring song and music throughout. The material is based on Nancy’s book “A Match Made In Heaven: A Bible-based guide to deepening your relationship with God” (Abingdon Press) and Linnea Good’s CDs Momentary Saints and The Greatest of These

Living in the Light: How God Heals

Grief, Loss and Spirituality workshop

Clinical psychologist and spiritual guide, Dr. Nancy Reeves, brings to this event her 30 years' experience in helping adults and children on their healing journey after bereavement, relationship disintegration, chronic illness and other types of loss. With Linnea Good's music, the day will be one to that inspires, comforts, and points the way to healing. The workshop can be adult-only or all ages, and is based on Nancy’s books “Found Through Loss: Healing stories from scripture and everyday sacredness” and “A Path Through Loss,” as well as Linnea’s CDs Momentary Saints and The Greatest of These. If children are present, the whole group will meet periodically throughout the day for story and song. In separate sessions, Linnea will work with the children while Nancy takes the adults for presentation, discussion, and personal reflection.

Introvert – Extrovert – Omnivert?

Relating to God on the inside and out

Are you an extrovert or an introvert?  Research indicates that each uses different parts of the brain and responds to spiritual practice differently. Extrovert spirituality can look very different from that practiced by introverts, yet both are valid. As part of her research findings outlined in her new book, “Spirituality for Extroverts (and tips for those who love them)", Nancy Reeves discovered that a number of her research participants had become omniverts - able to use more of their brains, with a more fully-expressed spirituality. In this workshop appropriate for adults and youth, we will explore our usual style of being in the world, and specifically our way of being with God. Then, we will experiment with opening to the other inclination. The workshop will be enhanced by Linnea Good’s inspiring music – in both introverted and extroverted ways!

Spiritual Discernment workshop

Suggested title: I’d Say Yes God, If I Knew What You Wanted

Spiritual discernment is different from other forms of decision-making because it asks God to guide the process. Explore how you can partner more effectively with the Holy to make large and small decisions, through inspiring stories and principles drawn from a number of faith traditions. The workshop will combine story, song, personal reflection, discussion, and spiritual practices, to invite adults and youth to clarify their strengths and challenges in listening to divine guidance. The material for this workshop is based on Nancy’s books “I’d Say Yes God, If I Knew What You Wanted” and “A Match Made In Heaven”, and Linnea’s CD’s The Sunday Sessions, Crazy Faith and The Greatest of These.

Gifts of the Eucharist: Stories to Inspire and Transform

Tom Powers, S.J. Executive Director, Graduate Programs of Pastoral Ministries and Counseling Psychology, Santa Clara University says about the book: "Reeves and Gasslein begin with what is central to our faith — the Eucharist — and provide insights and challenges in our most ancient form of passing on the faith — story telling. In doing so, their methodology takes the reader through a gentle and revelatory journey of conversion and increased reverence."

This workshop, for Catholic groups, is based on Nancy's 2009 book (Ave Maria Press) “Gifts of the Eucharist: Stories to inspire and transform” - a collection of compelling personal stories and theological reflection, on ten gifts received through the Eucharist, such as Celebration, Healing, Guidance, and Reconciliation. With consultation from the parish or group, a number of “gifts” will be explored during the workshop. Each gift will be illustrated through story and song, with time for personal prayer and reflection, discussion and spiritual practice.

Adventures of the God Detectives

an all-ages workshop

Renowned clinical psychologist and spiritual discernment guide, Dr Nancy Reeves, and beloved children's story and songsmith, Linnea Good have teamed up to write a book for young people with an ancient theme: How does God speak with God's people? This book introduces us to 4 children, ages 7-9, who are determined to find "clues" about the many different ways God's messages can be found in the world. The seven stories of their adventures offer insights into the kinds of messages God sends (and doesn't send), encourage respect for the experiences of others, deepen Christian faith and build trust in our own abilities to discern God's active presence in our lives.
